Welcome to my homework page!The first few months of school the only homework is to make sure that you please read a book each night before bed and that the students get a good night sleep. Our days are long and they are not used to the schdule so they will be very tired. Please also check their bookbags and take home folders nightly. There are things that will come home that might need your attention and then sent back the next day. These items will be in the take home folder on the left side labeled "return to school".In October we will start book-baggies. At first these will be books that the students have chosen for you to read to them. Please read and talk about the book with your child. We learn about characters and setting in the beginning and also talk a lot about feelings. They will also start brigning sight word rings home with them. This will be a small silver ring found in their book baggies with 10 colored cards, one word on each card. These are the sight words that we will be working on for the next 4-5 weeks. We learn two a week and then they will be tested on them at the end of the 4-5 weeks. Please review them nightly.Eventually the students will be bringing home books in their book baggies that they will read to you (yes they will, I know it is hard to believe) but they will be so excited to share in their learning with you. So please try to find time each night 10-15 minutes for reading, sight words and going through their folders of take home papers.Thank you for your time and support in building a solid home-school connection!
