Rev up for Reading Initiative
Description
Rev up for Reading Initiative that we will be running starting on Sunday, March 1 and ending on Sunday, March 15. The goal is to get the students reading for 20 minutes a day at home for the 2 weeks.
In the foyer we will
be placing a large race track that will be used to show class’s progress.
For each 1,000 minutes cumulatively that a classroom has read their race car will advance on the track. The class that reads the most over the 2 week period will receive a popcorn and
movie party in the auditorium. .
Studies show the more students read the more they achieve. This is designed as a fun way to get students to read. It also correlated with the Read Across America and Dr. Seuss birthday that will be happening in March.
